To rent a car with us you need three things: a valid identity document (national ID card or passport), a valid category B driving licence held for at least two years, and to be at least 21 years old (25 for our premium vehicles), or 25 for premium and sports vehicles — and our entire fleet falls in that group. You send nothing in advance: you go through your documents online using the link you receive after booking, and show them at pick-up. Here is what we check at booking and at hand-over.
Documents and driver requirements
The same rules apply to the renter and to every additional driver, and they come from our terms and conditions:
If a document is close to expiry, renew it before you book: the contract has to carry the number of a document still valid on the day you return the car. Full requirements are in the terms and conditions, in short form in the FAQ.
How the online identity check works
After you send the booking you land on the page where you complete your reservation; the link also arrives by e-mail. There you start the identity check. It runs online through an external provider in three steps — you capture your identity document, your driving licence and your face, so you need a device with a camera. Starting on a computer, you get a QR code: scan it with your phone, finish there, and the desktop page updates by itself.
There are three outcomes. Verified — nothing more is needed. Awaiting review — our staff check the images manually and you do nothing. Not passed — usually a blurry photo, a cropped document or glare. If a second attempt fails, contact us and we will go through your documents in person at pick-up.
The name on the rental contract comes from the verified document, not from what you typed into the booking form, so verify before we send the contract for electronic signature. If you have rented with us before and your document is still valid, you do not verify again — the system carries the earlier verification over. If you have replaced your ID card, passport or licence since then, tell us; that page has a separate button for it.
What happens at pick-up
The advance check is not everything. When we hand the car over we scan the document once more — this time without the face capture — and compare it with what we received online: document number, name and date of birth. Bring the same document you verified with. Without a verification — in advance or on the spot — we do not release the car, and that applies to every driver named in the contract, not only the person collecting the keys.
We may refuse to release the vehicle if the required documents are not presented, or if there is reasonable suspicion that the driver is under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. At signing we scan the identity document and the driving licence; the data is processed under GDPR and used for the contract, the invoice and the entitlement check.
On long-term rentals we watch document validity during the rental too. Before a document expires we send a request for a new verification, then sign an addendum to the contract with the updated details — with no change to the rental price.
Wedding rentals with a chauffeur are the exception: our driver is behind the wheel, so we need no driver documents from you.
Additional drivers
You add additional drivers in the booking — first name, surname and e-mail. Each receives their own verification link with the same three steps; we do not need their postal address. They must meet the same age and experience requirements as the renter, and only a driver written into the contract may drive the car. An additional driver costs €10 per day; the other rates are in the fee schedule. Letting an unauthorised person drive is a breach of contract and is charged at €1,000.
Renting for a company
A corporate booking adds company details: business name, company registration number, registered office and, where applicable, tax and VAT numbers. To conclude the contract we need an extract from the commercial register or a trade licence, plus a power of attorney for the driver if they are not a statutory representative. How recent those documents have to be is set out in the terms and conditions.
Two roles are involved. The guarantor is the individual who collects the car, drives it and guarantees the company's obligations, and is verified like any other driver. The authorised person is whoever can bind the company — a managing director, a procurator, an attorney-in-fact or an authorised employee. If both roles are the same person, the contract carries a single signature on the renter's side. If not, you give us the authorised person's name and e-mail when booking and they sign electronically together with the guarantor. Companies that rent regularly can instead use a framework power of attorney: the managing director signs it once and the authorised people then sign individual contracts themselves.
