There is one sentence nobody wants to hear while returning a car: "we just have a few charges here." Most bad rental experiences boil down to it. Not because the charges were invented — but because nobody mentioned them in advance and the customer had not budgeted for them.
So here is the full list of what you get in the price and what costs extra. No asterisks, no small print below the line.
What the daily rate covers
The daily price is not just for the keys. It contains everything without which you would not get anywhere anyway. The car arrives prepared — washed, fuelled, fluids checked, with a valid Slovak motorway vignette. It carries third-party and comprehensive insurance, so there is no counter conversation about which package to add in order to be covered. Roadside assistance runs alongside it, around the clock, and applies beyond the border. And the price includes 150 km for every rental day.
There is one more thing in there that you never see: servicing, roadworthiness and emissions tests, seasonal tyre changes, tread checks and all maintenance. That is our concern, and there is no reason for you to know about it — except that thanks to it the car turns up in the condition you expect.
The mileage allowance deserves a careful read, because it is often misunderstood. 150 km per day does not mean somebody stops you at kilometre 151, or that the counter resets at midnight. The allowance applies to the whole rental: five days give you 750 km, and it makes no difference whether you spread them evenly or drive 600 km on Saturday and leave the car outside your house for the rest of the week.
What costs extra — and why it is not a trap
Extras are not a surprise at return but an order. You switch each of them on yourself in the booking form and immediately see how it changes the total. Four of them come up most often.
An additional driver costs €10 per day each. It sounds like a detail until you see what sits behind it: insurance follows the names in the contract, and anyone not in it may not drive the car — not even two spaces across a car park. A child seat costs €8 per day, we have three age categories, and we fit it before handover so you are not wrestling with it in a car park holding a crying toddler.
Kilometres above the allowance are calculated at return from the odometer, but if you know in advance you will go further, buy them up front — prepaid is always cheaper than settled afterwards. On genuinely long routes, unlimited mileage as a daily supplement makes sense. And delivery is priced from the real driving distance at a per-kilometre rate; no fixed fee is added on top.
The rest depends on the occasion. Driving abroad costs €30 for neighbouring countries, €70 for a group including Germany, Italy and Croatia, and €250 for more distant destinations. Returning to the other branch (Bratislava ↔ Košice) carries a fixed amount by vehicle class. A personal chauffeur has a daily rate — and comes included with a wedding rental.
A model weekend, so it is not only numbers
Picture a long weekend for four. A seven-seat SUV for four days, delivered to you in Bratislava, your partner added as a second driver, and a Saturday hop to Vienna for an exhibition.
On top of the rent, whose amount you see in the booking form for your dates, you add 4 × €10 for the second driver — forty euros — plus €30 for the trip to Austria and delivery based on the distance from our Horné Mýto branch. The price includes 600 km, ample for Vienna and local trips. And that is where it ends — nothing else appears, provided the car comes back fuelled and without a fresh scratch.
Swap Vienna for the coast and the picture changes: a return trip to Istria is 1,400 to 1,800 km, the cross-border fee is higher and the mileage needs sorting in advance. But even those are items you can calculate to the last euro before booking.
The deposit is not a fee
Alongside the rent you leave a refundable deposit: €2,000 or €3,500 depending on vehicle class, and €3,000 or €5,250 for customers resident outside Slovakia. It buys you nothing. It is money we hold during the rental and send back to the account it came from once the car is returned and the rental settled — in full, if there is nothing to deduct.
It is paid by transfer against a request that carries its own reference number and a QR code. The payment therefore matches itself and you never have to send anyone a payment confirmation or call to ask whether it has arrived. It sounds like a detail, but it is precisely the part of the process where most misunderstandings happen elsewhere.

Fuel — you collect and return the car full, so you pay for exactly what you burned. Foreign vignettes and tolls, because those depend on the country you decide to visit. Traffic fines. And the cost of extraordinary cleaning if the car comes back in a state normal valeting cannot fix.
These are items we cannot predict — which is why we do not charge them upfront to people who never cause them. The alternative would be raising the daily rate for everyone so they "hide" inside it. That never struck us as fair.
